Interview: Sir Alex Ferguson Reviews Derby Defeat - Official Manchester United Website

Boss: This will have an impact

Sir Alex Ferguson is looking for a reaction from his players after United suffered a 6-1 thumping at the hands of local and title-race rivals Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League.

The boss believes the manner of Sunday’s defeat will have a positive impact on his squad and hopes his men will bounce back to title-winning form against Everton next weekend.

“You have to recover,” declared Sir Alex. “In the history of Manchester United, it is another day and we’ll recover from this, there’s no question about that.

“But that kind of defeat will make an impact on the players. There’s a lot of embarrassment in the dressing room and quite rightly so. Hopefully they’ll show that [reaction] next week.

Match Review: Manchester United v Manchester City 23-10-11 - Official Manchester United Website

It had been billed as the biggest Manchester derby in decades, but it turned out to be a derby day to forget for the Reds as the blue half of the city celebrated an historic 6-1 victory at Old Trafford.

United started the brighter of the two teams but it was City who made the crucial breakthrough when Mario Balotelli sidefooted past David De Gea after 20 minutes. Jonny Evans’ red card just after the break made it a real uphill fight for the Reds and it got worse thereafter as Balotelli grabbed a second before further goals followed from Sergio Aguero, David Silva and twice from substitute Edin Dzeko to leave Old Trafford stunned and end United’s long unbeaten run at home.

Match Review: Manchester United v Norwich City 1 - 10 - 2011 - Official Manchester United Website

It may be October but this was a taxing work-out in the sweltering sunshine for the champions. Anderson and Danny Welbeck finally broke down Norwich's spirited resistance and there were a couple of scares at the other end as the Canaries will feel luck deserted them at key moments.

EPL (Nov 15): United’s Young Guns Shattered Stock City by 5 Nil:

VS

Manchester United’s relatively young side with less experience shattered the Stock City like anything. United started of in great style, as they managed to score inside 3min through Trade Mark Free Kick of Cristiano Ronaldo and that goal was of double contentment for Ronaldo as it not only put his side ahead but also it was his 100th career goal. Later on few good moves were made but the successful one held just before the half time when Michel Carrick managed to beat the keeper (in 45th min). The goal just before the half time not only certified the much needed victory of United but also it made things more complex for the Stock City.

Soon after the half time Dimitar Barbatov got the golden opportunity in 49th min; which was fully availed by him and put his side ahead with 3 goals lead. Later that half United kept on targeting goal from all sides but it was 84th min when Danny Welbeck (Debutant) scored for the home team with a beauty in his very first match. 5 minutes later Cristiano Ronaldo struck again with his Signature Free Kick and made things even more worst for the Stock City.

Now take a look at Match Facts:

Match Facts:

Man Utd------------------ Stock City

22 ----- Total Shots ----- 2

12 ----- On Target ----- 0

6 ----- Fouls ----- 16

3 ----- Corners ----- 0

2 ----- Offside ----- 2

68% --- Possession --- 32%

0 ----- Cards ----- 2 Y

I think after match facts no further explanation is required to prove United’s grip at the match and “Total Shots” & "Goals" are descriptive enough for unchallengeable strikers and unbreakable defense line of United.

Overall the match was full of fun for the ManUtd fans and we hope that ManUtd will keep on shattering the opponents like this and make us say proudly:

“ Glory Glory Man Utd - & The Reds Go Marching On On On”

EPL: Red Devils Lost 1 Goal To 2 Against Gunners At the Emirates Stadium

VS

The emirates stadium, where the European champions were at odds with Arsenal. Still the London side knows that threat lies with the Manchester team as things are very obvious to change after the coming fixtures.

It was the 22nd minute when Nasri's deflected shot opened the score; later on the lead was doubled three minutes after the half time (48th minute) when Cesc Fabregas helped Nasri to give him a clean finishing.

Rafael Pereira da Silva who is a Brazilian & normally plays as a defender in a right back position, but can also play on the right side of midfield. Rafael saved the red devils from a clean sheet loss after he scored a goal with typical extravagance.

Although Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo got some obvious openings wasted away, but the team can have no serious complaints about the result. A little bit of composure and the result could’ve been somehow different. Still there’s nothing much to worry about as the season is just entering the peak where the team would probably get to be steady and consistent. In the final minute of usual time, Silvestre headed Giggs' cross clear as far as the edge of his own area, where Rafael took a touch on his chest and shot a dramatic left-footed volley past substitute goalkeeper Fabianski, who was earlier replaced by the injured Almuna. It’s only a matter of fixtures now when the red devils start to make winning a habit. After all, kings and lions always have a late entry in the scenes.

It was United, however, who had the first opportunity when Arsenal keeper Almunia inexplicably picked up a backpass from Mikael Silvestre inside the first two minutes. Great build-up play between Neville, Ronaldo and Park ended with Rooney’s bend effort being carried out by Almunia, before Berbatov converted the loose ball, having been lurking in an offside position.

Match Facts:

Arsenal ----------------------- Man Utd

15 --------Total Shots -------- 23

5 --------On Target -------- 6

18 --------Fouls-------- 8

1 --------Offside -------- 2

46% -----Possession ----- 54%

3 Y --------Cards -------- 2 Y

5 --------Saves --------3

Match facts tell the story of Man Utd’s Hard Luck! It wazn’t their day actually otherwise the result would have been in United’s favor as they were on top at the pitch. Although United lost its encounter against Gunners but its hopes for the EPL title are still alive.
